Welcome the little home of Rob Allen, commonly known as the y2kprawn, Shellfish superhero for the Y2K.

I graduated from Limerick Institute Of technology in 1998 with a certificate in computing , went working in E-Learning. Got Diploma in I.T and Systems Management in 2001. Thought programming night courses as well for a while. Was in E-learning for 6 years, that crashed, biomedical for one yea, that was interesting , went back to Carlow I.T to study a 4 year programme in video games and simulation. Graduated last year. But that just a short CV really , it feels that no matter what you know these days you are always at the back of the class as the economy keeps changing the rules.

I was an intern in Microsoft Games studios in 2008 and I have my name in the Credits of Project Gotham Racing 4 (PGR4), which I am quite pleased with. I work for Microsoft in Education at the moment and I am working on Setting up my own company with focus on using technology to solve some of irelands toughest problems.

I love computers and technology, but dam, they can be frustrating as well. Love mobile technology and I am trying this new twitter thing as well to see if its the next SMS .

I can program in a number of technologies, so wont bore you with the little details here, but am working more and more on “bigger pictures” now more than coding up things.
